NOTAS DE DIRECCIÓN

En 2008 la economía mundial estalló. La crisis llegó a España en 2009, el año en el que yo estaba justo acabando la carrera. Todo mi futuro -todo nuestro futuro- se bloqueó de repente. Tras eso, vinieron 8 años de precariedad y sueños robados. Nuestra juventud.

​

Estas imágenes fueron rodadas en 2015. Mis amigos y yo seguíamos trabajando en todo tipo de empleos precarios mientras tratábamos de crear, ensayar y rodar colectivamente una obra de teatro. Por aquel entonces yo estaba intentando sacar adelante mi primer largometraje 'Ana de día' pero no conseguía levantar la financiación, así que mientras tanto se me ocurrió filmar nuestras vidas y crear con ellas una especie de ficción. De aquella idea surgieron la mayor parte de estas imágenes.

Los espacios vacíos e industriales donde pretendíamos grabar nuestra performance terminaron convirtiéndose en una metáfora espacial de nuestra deriva, de la incertidumbre.

​

7 años después, en 2022, y tras dos años de crisis derivada de una pandemia mundial, me di cuenta de que existía un reflejo vital entre estas imágenes de 2015 y el presente en nuestros estados de ánimo, en las ilusiones todavía puestas en seguir creando artísticamente incluso cuando todo se pone en contra.

 

Nosotros, nuestra generación, somos ballenas aplastadas por el hielo que, a pesar de todo, seguimos cantando debajo del agua.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

In 2008 the global economy collapsed. It arrived to Spain in 2009, the year I was just finishing my studies. All my future -all our future- was suddenly blocked. After that, it came 8 years of precariousness and stolen dreams. All our youth.

​

These images were shot in 2015. Me and my friends were still working in all kinds of precarious jobs while we all dreamt with collectively creating, rehearsing and filming a theater play. At that time I was trying to get my first feature film 'Ana by day' off the ground but couldn't raise the financing, so in the meanwhile I had the idea of filming our lives and creating a kind of fiction out of them. Most of these images came from that idea.

The empty and industrial spaces where we intended to record our performance ended up being a spatial metaphor of our drift, of uncertainty.

 

7 years later, in 2022, and after two years of crisis derived from a global pandemic, I realized that there was a vital reflection between these images of 2015 and the present in our moods, in the illusions still placed in continuing to create artistically even when everything goes against us.

We, our generation, are whales crushed by the ice that, despite everything, continue to sing underwater.
